BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan – Authorities have confiscated PHP272,000 worth of suspected shabu from a former policeman considered as a high-value individual (HVI) in an operation in Barangay Duera in this town.

In an interview Thursday, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) information officer Maj. Arturo Melchor Jr. identified the suspect as Jasper Joy Mabulay, 30, former police personnel assigned in the National Capital Region.

“A search warrant was implemented in the residence of the suspect in Barangay Duera early morning on Thursday when authorities discovered 26 sachets of suspected shabu and a black pouch containing two more sachets of suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia,” he said.

Melchor said the suspect was considered an HVI given the amount of suspected shabu weighing about 30 grams seized from his custody.

“The search warrant was in relation to Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” he said.

He added Mabulay was dismissed from the service due to involvement in the illegal drug trade. (PNA)
