ZAMBOANGA CITY – Joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the local police have arrested five people as they dismantled a drug den in this city, an official of the agency said Tuesday.

Jury Rocamora, PDEA-Zamboanga City Office head, said the drug den was taken down in a search warrant operation in Sitio Bagong Dalan, Barangay Talon-Talon here at about 6:35 p.m. on Monday.

Rocamora identified the drug maintainer as Darryl Olmedo, who was arrested along with Jimmy Lacay, Bernie Bancairin, Romar Orot, and Jaymark Distura.

He said seized from the drug den were about 15 grams of suspected shabu packed in 38 heat-sealed plastic sachets with an estimated street value of PHP102,000, two smartphones, and several illegal drug paraphernalia.

Rocamora said they launched the search warrant operation with the police after a series of surveillance on Olmedo’s alleged illegal drug activities.

He said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were being prepared against them. (PNA)
