MANILA – Some 193,915 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a message to reporters on Thursday, PNP deputy chief for administration, Lt. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz, said this is equivalent to 86.90 percent of the PNP's 221,000 members.

Vera Cruz added that 11.53 percent or 25,726 have received their first dose and are waiting for their second shot.

Meanwhile, 1.57 percent or 3,509 are still to receive any jabs.

Vera Cruz earlier said the PNP is likely to start the vaccination of minor dependents of active police officers by November.

However, this is still dependent on the vaccine allocation being provided to them by the Department of Health.

As of Thursday, the police force has logged 40,488 recoveries after 70 more police officers recovered from Covid-19.

Some 64 new infections were also recorded, bringing the active case count to 842, out of a total of 41,453 confirmed cases.

The PNP's Covid-19 death toll stands at 123. (PNA)
