CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Some 5,000 police personnel were deployed in cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria in Central Luzon to ensure the safety and security of the public in the observance of the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

Brig. General Valeriano T. de Leon, regional director of the Police Regional Office 3, said on Thursday the police personnel in the region were deployed as early as Oct. 23 to provide maximum security coverage and public safety service.

He directed all city and provincial directors in the region to continuously conduct police-focused operations as well as personally supervise their men on the ground in inspecting and checking the implementation of the minimum public health standards set by Inter-Agency Task Force amid the continuing threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

He said that barangay peacekeeping action teams are also deputized by the Philippine National Police to assist as a left-behind force, together with the police, to patrol residential areas, business establishments, and economic key points to thwart criminality.

“Our personnel are deployed from Oct. 23 to Nov. 4, 2021 as an influx of people flock to the cemeteries and memorial parks since these will be closed from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2, 2021. Police assistance desks are already set-up in the entry points to control the number of people entering and to ensure that the health protocols are observed,” he said in a statement. (PNA)
