BACOLOD CITY – Fully-vaccinated residents of this city may now apply for a QR (Quick Response)-coded coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination card if they need to travel within the country.
On Monday afternoon, the city government introduced the BACuna Card, which contains the individual’s personal data, brand and lot number of the vaccine received, and the location and date where the shots were administered.
It has a QR code that will be used to verify if the vaccinee’s data matches those encoded in the city’s database.
In a statement on Tuesday, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said having a vaccination card will make travel more convenient for Bacolodnons.
“BACuna cardholders will simply just present this when they travel in and out of the city,” he added.
Leonardia said the card’s release is very timely because Covid-19 infections in the city have been declining in the past two weeks, with only 18 cases recorded on Monday.
He noted the last time Bacolod had cases below 18 for the day was on August 18.
Em Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), said the vaccination card will be initially available for those going on domestic travel.
“When fully operational, the BACuna Card is supposed to provide all Bacolodnons with a digital vaccine card that can be verified as authentic by the Covid-19 Vaccination Council database,” she added.
Edrien Robete, head of the EOC-TF data management cluster, said that being QR-coded, the card, once swiped will generate the person’s vaccination data thus, ensuring its authenticity.
