Over 612K Zambo City residents receive Covid-19 jab

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The City Health Office has vaccinated some 612,458 individuals against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of Wednesday as the vaccination program continues here.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said Thursday 378,306 individuals representing 54.45 percent of the target eligible population of 694,696 received their first dose.

Miravite said 234,152 or 33.70 percent of the target group got their second or are fully vaccinated.

“We have activated vaccination centers in far-flung areas to bring closer to the people the vaccination program of the government,” she said.

Maria Christine Lim, health education and promotion officer, said there are 26 active vaccination centers all over the city.

Meanwhile, Miravite said 20,380 of the 378,306 who received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines are children aged 12 to 17.

She added that 19,338 of the 20,380 partially vaccinated children are from the rest of the pediatric population while the remaining 1,042 are with comorbidities or underlying illnesses.

The pediatric vaccination was rolled out on November 8 in the city. (PNA)
