MANILA – A seven-day simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) has resulted in the arrest of 47 persons and confiscation of PHP20.3 million worth of illegal drugs.
“This is relentless determination at its finest. These anti-narcotic operations wouldn’t be possible without a strong intelligence gathering and careful planning from our operatives,” PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said in a statement on Monday.
Carlos lauded the initiatives being undertaken by various police units at large during the weeklong operations from Dec. 6 to 12 despite the limitations brought by the pandemic.
“Despite the pandemic, you have proven time and again that our goal to eradicate criminality will never cease,” Carlos said.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. also commended the successful joint drug buy-bust operation of Southern Police District (SPD) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) which resulted in the seizure of more than PHP3.4 million worth of shabu in Parañaque City.
"I am pleased to congratulate SPD for this successful anti-drug bust which resulted in the seizure of more than PHP3.4M worth of suspected illegal drugs. Indeed, this accomplishment is another biggest drug haul not just in SPD but in our region as a whole for the week," Danao said in a separate statement.
SPD director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg identified the suspect as Jimmy Kasim, resident of Quiapo, Manila, who was arrested during an operation conducted on Sunday in a fast-food chain parking lot located along San Antonio Avenue, Parañaque City.
Danao said the successful operation once again proved that collaboration, partnership and unity of effort between law enforcement agencies “produce results greater than expected.”
“Rest assured that NCRPO shall continuously work hand in hand with our counterparts to ensure the attainment of our common vision of safe and peaceful Metro Manila for all,” he added.
The suspect is now detained at the PDEA custodial facility while charges are being prepared against him for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
