MANILA – The UniTeam camp of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte postponed all activities during the duration of Alert Level 3 in Metro Manila.

In a statement on Monday, Marcos’ spokesperson and lawyer, Vic Rodriguez, said the presidential candidate ordered the deferment of all activities until January 15.

The BBM-Sara UniTeam headquarters in Mandaluyong City is also temporarily closed until further notice after more than 20 staff members tested positive for Covid-19.

“However, campaign preparations and other administrative functions of the UniTeam will proceed non-stop through work-from-home arrangements and virtual meetings of the concerned staffers and campaign personnel,” Rodriguez stated.

The UniTeam advised its supporters nationwide to exercise self-restraint and avoid holding unilateral campaign and political activities that might result in the further surge of Covid-19 cases.

As a matter of policy, the duo’s campaign headquarters requires all visitors and staff to undergo antigen tests at least twice a week.

James Jimenez, Commission on Elections spokesperson, lauded the UniTeam’s decision.

“Credit where credit is due, this is a laudable move. It would be epic, however, if the suspension of public appearances, sorties, and assemblies were until February 8, 2021,” he said on his Twitter account @jabjimenez. (PNA)
