TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental – A United States (US) citizen is set to face criminal charges after police raided his condominium unit in Cagayan de Oro City and found three minors who were unrelated to him.

In an interview Tuesday, Lt. Col. Lemuel Gonda, acting chief of the Northern Mindanao Police - Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU-10), identified the suspect as Sebastian Alexander Altamirano, who has a residence in Barangay Camaman-an.

Criminal charges are being readied by the police against the suspect in violation of Republic Act (RA) 10364 or the "Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012," and RA 7610, or the "Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act."

"The suspect (is) with COCPO PS5 (Cagayan de Oro City Police Station 5) Macabalan. The minors (are) with WCPD (Women and Children Protection Desk), and now with the mother," Gonda said.

Gonda said it was the 34-year-old mother who reported the incident to the police. The children are aged 13, 16, and 17.

RACU-10 and PS5 teamed up to conduct the entrapment and rescue operation to capture Altamirano.

Police operatives found from the suspect's possession assorted gadgets that were allegedly used to exploit the three victims. (PNA)
