CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Thirty-six police personnel in Central Luzon have been dismissed from service following the intensified internal cleansing campaign of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3).

Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay, PRO3 regional director, said in a statement on Thursday aside from the dismissal from service of the police officers, 54 others were suspended, five were meted with demotion, one was forfeited of his salary, and 12 were reprimanded.

On the other hand, Baccay said 603 were exonerated from their administrative cases while the others' cases have yet to be resolved and awaiting decisions.

He said those meted with disciplinary actions were given due process during the investigations before decisions were released.

Based on records from PRO3’s Discipline Law and Order Section, the primary unit tasked to impose disciplinary action on police personnel, a total of 441 administrative cases were filed from January to December last year against 865 erring police personnel in the region.

Of the total figures, 162 are commissioned officers, 701 are non-commissioned officers, and two are non-uniformed personnel.

The total number is equivalent to a nominal 14 percent of the entire PRO3 police force comprising 12,211 personnel. (PNA)
