ANKARA – The 2022 Australian Open women's singles final will be played between top seed Ashleigh Barty and world no. 27 seed Danielle Collins.

Collins from the US eliminated Polish no. 7 Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Thursday.

Swiatek, 20, previously stunned tennis authorities after winning her first and only Grand Slam title in the 2020 French Open (Roland Garros).

In the post-match interview, Collins, 28, said that she is delighted to play her maiden Grand Slam final in Melbourne.

"It feels amazing. It has been such a journey... It is so many years of hard work," Collins said.

"It is incredible to be on this stage, especially after all the health challenges... I couldn't be happier," she added.

Barty defeated her US opponent Madison Keys, who ranked 51st, 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinal match at Rod Laver Arena that lasted for over an hour.

A two-time Grand Slam winner reached her first Australian Open final.

Barty previously won the 2019 French Open (Roland Garros) and 2021 Wimbledon.
