MANILA – Aksyon Demokratiko candidates Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Dr. Willie Ong chose to start their Visayas sortie in Samar island as a homage to the late mother of the presidential candidate.

They arrived in Calbayog on Monday and went around Eastern Samar, ending the day in Catbalogan.

On Tuesday, the municipality of Allen, hometown of Domagoso’s late mother, Rosario, was part of the itinerary.

During an ambush interview at the town of Lavezares on Tuesday, aired online, Domagoso said he met his relatives, some for the first time.

“I’m very happy also nakita ko ‘yung ibang mga kamag-anak. Merong hindi ko pa name-meet since time immemorial dala ng alam mo ‘pag galing ka sa probinsya, squatter ka sa Maynila, ‘yung pag-uwi mo sa probinsya mo, it’s a luxury kasi sa mahal ng pamasahe kaya marami sa kanila talagang hindi ko na-meet. Hindi ko nakilala pero meron din naman sa partido ng linyada rin namin na mga kakilala ko rin (I saw some relatives. There are some whom I have never met my entire life because you know, if you are from the province, and you are an informal settler in Manila, going to your home province is a luxury because travelling is expensive so I haven’t met many of them, but there are also those whom I know),” Domagoso said.

Given a chance, Domagoso said he will continue the “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program, including a bridge connecting Luzon to Samar, the third largest and seventh most populous island in the Philippines.

He said the bridge will bring more business transactions and economic movement that will create job opportunities. (PNA)
