DAVAO CITY – Multi-sectoral leaders in this city and from neighboring municipalities convened on Sunday to show support for the candidacy of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and running mate Mayor Sara Z. Duterte.

BAROG (Batan-on Alang kay Rody Gihapon) was a volunteer youth group in 2001 to support the political journey of Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte.

In 2021, the organization reassembled BAROG 2.0 to support the BBM-SARA campaign for President and Vice President.

BAROG 2.0 spokesperson Alex Into said they have come up with the core group, not as political machinery, but as a parallel-group that would support candidates that would possibly continue the programs and projects started by President Duterte.

“Our main goal is to find a tandem which will continue President Rody’s legacy. Based on their platforms, the tandem of BBM-Sara has the only capacity to continue the programs on infrastructure, peace and order, counter-terrorism, war on drug and others,” he said in an interview.

Into said the structure of the multi-sectoral group includes the youth, indigenous people (IP), transport group, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender), riders, business, academe, sports, women, and others.

“We are on the right track for six years (Duterte administration). There is a clamor that he should continue serving the country but we know that the law does not allow it. So we eyed the BBM-Sara tandem as the rightful leaders to replace the President,” he added.

With over 7,000 BAROG 2.0 members, Into said they are purely rendering volunteerism as a support to their candidates.

“Since we are not a main political structure and we are just a parallel-group, we will only utilize what we can help,” he added.

Into said they plan to expand to other municipalities as they were informed there were areas that needed further information about the tandem’s platform and capacity to lead the country. (PNA)
