Zambo Peninsula cops nab 2 wanted persons

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Lawmen have arrested two felons, including a gun-for-hire, in separate law enforcement operations, police officials said Wednesday.

Arrested were Marvin Calunsag Mending alias Muklo Mending, 36, listed as 11th on the wanted list of guns-for-hire and among the top 15 most wanted in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur; and Nano Martinito, 35, tagged as fifth most wanted in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Col. Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, said Mending was arrested in an operation around 8:30 a.m. Monday in Purok 4, Barangay Limulan, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

Albarico said Mending is wanted for murder with no recommended bail issued by the court of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

Mending was placed under the temporary custody of the police in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat before his transport to Zamboanga del Sur.

Meanwhile, Col. Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, said Martinito was arrested in an operation around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday in Purok Tinago, Barangay Goodyear, Kabasalan.

Larubis said Martinito is wanted for rape with no recommended bail issued by the court of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Martinito was brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Zamboanga Sibugay office for documentation before his turnover to the court of Ipil. (PNA)
