CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III on Friday lauded the efforts of the provincial government as well as the local government units (LGUs) in the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) that resulted in the province's very low-risk classification.

In his visit to the vaccination sites at the cinemas of Robinsons Starmills and SM City Pampanga, Duque commended the ways on how the local chief executives in the province implemented the programs of the DOH and the Inter-Agency Task Force against the dreaded disease.

“I commend the local chief executives. Talaga naman kanilang isinasapuso at isinasagawa ang lahat po ng programa na binuo ng DOH, kasama ang Inter-Agency Task Force (They indeed put it in their hearts and executed all the programs created by the DOH, together with the Inter-Agency Task Force),” he said in an interview.

The DOH official likewise thanked the private sectors, particularly the management of the Robinsons Starmills and SM City Pampanga, for their support in the government’s response efforts against Covid-19.

“I commend the efforts of the SM and Robinson malls for their generosity in allowing the use of their facilities such as this movie house as vaccination sites,” he said.

Duque expressed hope that the local chief executives here would be able to sustain their efforts as the country takes the initial steps toward new normal.

Likewise, he asked the Kapampangans to join and support the ongoing fourth round of the Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Vaccination Program against Covid-19 to reach the government’s target of 80 percent of the eligible population or 90 million Filipinos to be fully inoculated.

Together with DOH Regional Director Corazon Flores and other health and local officials, Duque likewise visited the vaccination site in Angeles City as he personally administered vaccines to children aged 5 to 11 who were scheduled to receive their first dose of vaccines. (PNA)
