CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation in Northern Mindanao (PhilHealth–10) recognized Tuesday the three pioneering institutions that catered to the public its "Konsulta" program since last year.

The hospitals are the JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH), a medical facility operated by the local government here; the Gingoog City Health Office (CHO) in Misamis Oriental; and the Tagaloguin -Adona Polymedic Diagnostic Center, a private facility based in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental.

During the awarding ceremony here, PhilHealth-10 Vice President Delio Aseron II noted that the three institutions were the first among the many healthcare facilities to adopt the "Konsultasyonng Sulit at Tama" or the PhilHealth "Konsulta" program.

"They are responsive to our call to join in this program, which is part of the Universal Health Care Act that gives premium to public health benefits," he said.

Under the "Konsulta" program, all PhilHealth members can register in an expanded primary care benefit of the agency by registering to an accredited “Konsulta” facility of the client's choice.

Once registered, the member can avail of consultation and referral services, including diagnostic laboratory examinations and providing medicines.

In 2021, JRBGH managed to register 200 beneficiaries and listed 43 patients in the first quarter of 2022.

The Gingoog City health office registered 300 beneficiaries in 2021 and expanded to accommodate a 12,000 beneficiary load for 2022.

The Gingoog health office is currently attending to 329 program recipients for the first quarter this year.

Meanwhile, the Tagaloguin-Adona Polymedic Diagnostic Center was the recent addition after it was accredited last month and is currently under operations orientation by PhilHealth-10.

This year, another facility, the Mission Buenaventura Care Family Clinic in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, is in the process of accreditation.

In this city, there are five more barangay health facilities, including the CHO, that are applying to become Konsulta providers. (PNA)
