DAVAO CITY – Officials broke ground Tuesday for the PHP15-million infirmary in Barangay Casig-ang in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte to provide affordable and accessible healthcare facilities for the residents of the town and nearby areas.

In a statement, Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said the facility will rise on a 1.5-hectare property owned by the Santo Tomas local government and is seen to expand the basic services and programs on health, especially with the threat of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“The dream project of the Tomasinos will soon be realized. The hospital is a big help to residents as we aim to strengthen our health and medical services for the Tomasinos,” Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said.

With its huge budget, Evangelista said the facility will serve as a healthcare institution that provides patient treatment with medical staff and equipment.

“This will also cater to patients from nearby towns such as the municipality of Braulio E. Dujali,” he said.

Evangelista thanked the provincial government for fulfilling its commitment to the people of Santo Tomas, especially in the implementation of programs and projects under his “Aksyon Ang Solusyon” program. (PNA)
