MANILA – The Philippine government has so far repatriated 342 and evacuated some 63 Filipinos from war-torn Ukraine since Russia attacked the country on February 24, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.
In its latest infographic on Filipinos in the Eastern European state, the DFA said it assisted a total of 405 Filipinos but did not provide figures on the remaining nationals in Ukraine.
"Of them, 342 have been repatriated to the country, while the remaining 63 were evacuated to its neighboring countries," it said.
"The Department of Foreign Affairs continues to enjoin Filipinos in Ukraine to exercise caution and remain vigilant, and to immediately contact the Philippine Embassies in Warsaw and Budapest should they require any assistance," it added.
Among DFA's latest repatriates are the 12 crewmen of M/V Filia Joy and M/V Filia Glory, who were successfully evacuated from their ships through the efforts of the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Chisinau, Moldova in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy in Budapest. They arrived in Clark, Pampanga on March 22.
Also repatriated by the agency is a Filipino child, accompanied by his Ukrainian mother, who departed Warsaw for Manila on board an Emirates flight via Dubai on March 22.
Ukraine is under Alert Level 4 (mandatory evacuation) in view of the continuously deteriorating security situation brought about by the Russian war against Ukraine. (PNA)
