PRO-13 director, Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., also lauded CIDG for its campaign against loose firearms, which resulted in the arrest of 30 suspects and the confiscation and surrender of 111 guns and an explosive.

CIDG's campaign against loose firearms in the region also led to the filing of 36 cases in court against violators.

From January to March this year, Caramat said CIDG also intensified its campaign against illegal gambling, resulting in the arrest of 247 individuals, the confiscation of PHP114,527 cash used as bets, and the filing of 66 cases in court.

“The campaign against other law enforcement activities by the CIDG-13 also resulted in 165 operations, 190 arrests, and 160 cases filed in court,” Caramat was quoted in the statement as saying.

CIDG-13, headed by Police Col. Ernesto Miranda, also received a commendation for its effective community relations and engagements with the different stakeholders in the Caraga Region.

Caramat said that from December 2021 to February 2022, the unit has gained success in its Community Outreach Program by gathering PHP793,515 worth of donations from the different stakeholders in the region.

The donations and support include logistical materials such as desktop computers and motor vehicles that were effectively used during operations.

"I commend the efforts of the CIDG-13 on these accomplishments that added to the gains of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Caraga,” Caramat said. (PNA)
