House of Maguindanao ex-mayor strafed, bombed

GRENADE SPLINTER HOLE. BULUAN, Maguindanao—Unidentified gunmen staged a predawn attack Friday on the residence of former Mayor Ibrahim” Jong” Mangudadatu here, spraying the house with bullets and lobbing it with grenades.

In a statement, Maguindanao Board Member King Mangudadatu, Ibrahim's nephew, said nobody was hurt in the 1:30 a.m. strafing in Barangay Poblacion.

Mangudadatu said incumbent Mayor Baby Dats Mangudadatu, Ibrahim's son, also live in the same house.

Police said they recovered empty cartridges for an M16 rifle, M14 rifle, M1 Carbine rifle, .30-caliber machine gun, and empty shells for shoulder launcher fired 40mm, and M79 grenades around the former mayor’s home.

The board member said the family leaves the matter to police investigators. (PNA)
