ILOILO CITY – The Department of Education is calling on parents with incoming Kindergarten, and Grades 1, 7, and 11 for the school year (SY) 2022-2023 in Western Visayas to have their children pre-registered on or before the April 30 deadline.

“The purpose of this is for planning so we would know how many modules, classrooms and other policy planning intervention to prepare in terms of budget and allocation for SY2022-2023,” said Hernani Escullar Jr. the regional information officer of DepEd Western Visayas in an interview on Friday.

The early registration started on March 25 but they have yet to generate the data for early registrants from Western Visayas because the information is sent directly to the database at their central office.

“They can go to the nearest public school where they intend to enroll (their children) and fill up the modified basic education early registration enrollment form so they will be registered in the learners information sheet,” Escullar added.

However, he said those who could not get listed during the pre-registration will still be accepted during the regular enrolment.

Those incoming Grades 2-6, 8-10, and 12 no longer have to participate because automatically they are considered pre-registered.

He added that DepEd is expected to release its calendar for the incoming school year sometime in May.

Meantime, the last day of the school year 2021-2022 will be on June 24 while graduation rites will start on June 27. (PNA)
