MANILA – A lawyer from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) was injured in a shooting incident that transpired along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City on Monday night.

Pasay City chief of police Col. Cesar Paday-os on Tuesday identified the victim as Joseph Samuel Zapata, 30, and resident of Rainbow Village, San Isidro, Parañaque City.

Paday-os said initial investigation showed that the Zapata was driving his white Toyota Fortuner with plate number NBP 7726, heading southbound of Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, when motorcycle-riding suspects shot the left portion of the vehicle at around 5:40 p.m., hitting the back of the victim's head.

Paday-os said Zapata who sustained a gunshot wound was rushed to a hospital in Manila for treatment while the suspects sped toward the direction of Manila.

He said investigators are conducting interviews at the crime scene for possible identification of the suspects as well as their motorcycle used.

Meanwhile, a car with plate number NBT 2523 driven by Windy Lane Ochoco of Central Bicutan, Taguig City was accidentally hit by the Fortuner driven by the victim, causing damage to the vehicle.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director, Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraig,  has ordered the Pasay police to probe the incident.

“The victim was wounded and alive and we are now backtracking the CCTV in the area,” Macaraig said in a text message sent to Philippine News Agency. (PNA)
