LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The provincial government of Pangasinan has lifted its province-wide curfew amid the decreased number of coronavirus diseases 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the province.

In Executive Order (EO) No. 27 issued on Wednesday, Governor Amado Espino III said the lifting of the curfew will be effective immediately.

“In order to curb the spread of the dreaded disease, province-wide curfew was thereafter implemented with varying time or duration, depending on the current risk classification level of the province; there is a decline in the number of confirmed infections in the previous months,” he said.

He added the provincial government of Pangasinan has been working towards easing restrictions on the movement of its constituents with due consideration to providing balance for economic and health concerns against the threat of Covid-19.

The province recorded zero new confirmed cases with only eight active cases as of April 19.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) has strengthened checkpoints and patrolling in convergence areas, such as tourist spots and terminals, PPPO information officer Maj. Katelyn May Awingan said in a phone interview on Wednesday.

“Some 300 personnel of the PPPO will be augmented to the local police stations for the upcoming elections,” she said.

Residents have different opinions on the lifting of the curfew as some welcomed the measure while some believed it was better to implement a province-wide curfew.

Need pa din ng curfew hour tulad sa mga nagvivideoke, nakakaistorbo yan sa mga may klase lalo na sa gabi (We still need a curfew hour like for those who are having karaoke as they disturb those who have online classes, especially at night),” said Jacob Cantillo. (PNA)
