CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) here have dropped to a single digit, the City Health Office (CHO) said in an online briefer Monday.

Dr. Ted Yu Jr., CHO medical officer, said the active cases were reduced to nine from 12 cases on Saturday after they recorded five more recoveries.

Data from the CHO showed three of the active cases are admitted at the temporary treatment and monitoring facility, while two are at private hospitals. Five are at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), the Covid-19 referral hospital in Region 10.

Overall, the local government has recorded 25,835 total cases in the city, of which 24,882 had recovered and 939 had died.

Yu reminded the public to not be complacent and strictly follow the minimum public health standards and other protocols.

"Even if we only averaged one daily case for the previous week, we should not relax, and let's continue to defend ourselves even if we are still under Alert 1 status," he said.

Yu said the city's Covid-19 vaccination team has inoculated 822 individuals over the weekend, comprising 333 children aged five to 11 years old, 489 individuals aged 12 years old and above, and 31 senior citizens.

As of Sunday, the city tallied 550,170 fully vaccinated individuals or 91.70 percent of the city's total target population of 599,929.

Of the fully vaccinated, 128,000 individuals or 24.43 percent of the target population received their booster shots. (PNA)
