MANILA – The country’s severe and critical cases have further declined to 11.23 percent of the total Covid-19 admissions in hospitals nationwide, a health official said Tuesday.

Citing data from the National Admissions by Health Status, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said most of the hospital admissions are asymptomatic (1,115 or 20.03 percent) and mild (2,014 or 36.18 percent) cases as of May 14.

The severe (432 or 7.76 percent) and critical (193 or 3.47 percent) cases are only 11.3 percent of the total hospital admissions

“Patuloy rin bumaba ang severe and critical cases mula sa 705 cases nitong nakaraang May 12. Bumaba ito sa 625 cases ngayong linggo (The overall tally of severe and critical cases also went down from 705 cases last May 12 to 625 cases this week),” Vergeire said.

She added that the national Covid-19 cases continue to decline, currently averaging 157 infections per day, breaching the lowest recorded average prior to Omicron peak at 254 cases per day last Dec. 18 to 24, 2021.

Meanwhile, the average daily cases for May 10 to 16 of 157 cases is lower by 1 percent compared to the 158 cases from May 3 to 9. (PNA)
