BUTUAN CITY – The city government will provide cash rewards to Butuanon athletes who won medals in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.

In a statement Friday, the City Information Office of Butuan (CIO), said the cash incentives for the two Butuanon athletes, Dave Cea and Breanna Labadan, is based on a city ordinance.

Cea and Labadan recently won medals in their respective games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

A resident of Barangay Tagabaca here, Cea will receive PHP70,000 for winning a silver medal in his Taekwondo Men’s Kyorugi-74kg event.

Labadan of Barangay Tandang Soro will also receive PHP50,000 for winning a bronze medal in gymnastics.

“Butuan City is proud of the success of its athletes during the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam,” CIO said.

CIO said SP Ordinance No. 6169-2020 aims to recognize the achievements of athletes from Butuan, as it seeks to encourage more athletes from the city to excel in their respective sports events. (PNA)
