DAVAO CITY – Some 250 work opportunities, including 150 for overseas work, were made available Friday for jobseekers in Barangay Buhangin here, the city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) said.

“In this particular event, our partners offered 250 job vacancies – 150 for overseas and another 100 for local employment,” said PESO-Davao officer-in-charge Lilibeth Pantinople in an interview.

The event is the fourth barangay job fair stint this year, she said, adding that some 300 jobseekers went to check the available opportunities.

Earlier, PESO-Davao announced it will launch a regular and scheduled job fair every other Friday at an open-area gymnasium in a selected barangay.

“The mayor wants us to bring employment opportunities in far-flung areas,” Pantinople said.

PESO-Davao, she said, is conducting face-to-face job fairs for those who do not have access or cannot participate in online job fairs.

With this, Pantinople also urged those who are unemployed and underemployed to visit their websites and social media accounts to be updated with the job vacancies from their employment partners.

Department of Labor and Employment in Davao Region (DOLE-11) Assistant Regional Director Jason Balais said jobseekers may also visit PESO offices in their respective barangays to check for job listings. (PNA)
