ZAMBOANGA CITY – Officials of Brgy. Sta. Maria and the City Health Office (CHO) launched Monday massive fumigation and misting to contain the rising cases of dengue in the village.
Data released by the CHO showed that since January, Barangay Sta. Maria has recorded 125 cases, the highest among the 15 barangays with high cases of dengue.
Los Eli Angeles, the barangay chairperson said the fogging and misting were part of the "search and destroy activities" in neighborhoods where high dengue cases are reported.
“The operation is done by three groups that are deployed to areas or zones with the highest number of dengue cases,” Angeles said.
Earlier, the barangay officials distributed information education and communication materials to the residents to instill awareness against dengue.
