Bacolod cops seize P6.9-M ‘shabu’, nab 50 suspects in May

BACOLOD CITY – Anti-drug teams of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized PHP 6.881 million in suspected shabu and arrested 50 drug personalities during the month of May, a report on Thursday showed.

The total haul of 1,011.96 grams, pegged at PHP6,800 per gram, came from various operations during the period May 1 to 31.

Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, city police director, commended the operating units for their effort to stop all forms of criminality in the city, including those involving illegal drugs.

During the covered period, teams from the City Drug Enforcement Unit and various police stations launched 42 operations, where they nabbed 34 drug pushers and 16 drug users.

Some 56 cases have been filed in court against the suspects for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

One of the major operations in the past month led to the arrest of Christian Oliveros, 21, a high-value individual (HVI), who yielded 250 grams of shabu valued at PHP1.7 million on May 1.

On May 8, suspect Liza “Inday” Lausa, 54, was caught in a buy-bust that led to the recovery of PHP1.054 million worth of the same prohibited substance in Barangay 5.

Also arrested were couple Pearl Je-Ann Elera, 26, also an HVI, Reigel Troy Quimba, 20, who were found possessing PHP1.183 million in shabu during a buy-bust at their house in Barangay Punta Taytay on May 13.

On May 19, Eric Mugdan, 48, another HVI, was also arrested with PHP 428,400 worth of shabu in Barangay 4. (PNA)
