MANILA – The Philippine Azkals got a point in Thomas Dooley's comeback game as head coach, forcing Yemen to a goalless draw in their AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers third-round showdown on Wednesday at the MFF Training Center in Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia.

Despite only training for two weeks, the Azkals looked like the more polished offense than the Yemeni squad, which only arrived in the Mongolian capital on the eve of their match, as the former played more composed football, which has been Dooley's system.

They even had a chance to win it in the end on a Mark Hartmann free kick, but Manny Ott's close shot just went wide to the right.

New captain Neil Etheridge saved the day for the Azkals as he easily saved Yemen's last attack that could have given them the win.

The draw opens a possibility for Palestine and bubble tournament host Mongolia to go on top of Group B after Matchday 1.

Both squads are playing as of posting. (PNA)
