BUTUAN CITY – Agusan del Sur only has one remaining active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) case as of Friday, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported.

PHO noted that the lone active case represents 0.01 percent of the province’s 16,177 total number of Covid-19 infections recorded since the pandemic was declared two years ago.

“The total number of Covid-19 infections is 2.13 percent of the total population of Agusan del Sur,” PHO said.

Agusan del Sur also registered 15,744 recoveries from Covid-19 or 97.32 percent of the total number of cases. A total of 432 Covid-19-related deaths, representing 2.67 percent of the total cases, were also logged in the province.

The top five areas in the province with the most cases of Covid-19 infections are San Francisco town with 2,888 cases; Prosperidad, 2,480; Bayugan City, 2,219; Rosario, 1,245 and Esperanza, 1,185.

Despite the decrease in the number of infections, the PHO continues to call on residents to avail themselves of the free Covid-19 vaccination from the government. (PNA)
