BUTUAN CITY – The local government unit of Sibagat in Agusan del Sur announced Wednesday the start of the implementation of environmental measures to protect the Pinandagatan Falls, one of its primary tourist destinations.

A three-day tree planting and massive info campaign will be conducted by the LGU until Friday with the aim to sustain the natural habitat of the waterfalls in Barangay Tubigon.

It said the activity targets to plant around 250 seedlings of trees and more tree planting activities will be conducted after the three-day activity.

“Pinandagatan Falls is one of Sibagat’s most astonishing tourist destinations serving majestic views of cascading waterfalls,” the LGU said.

The three-day activity will be led by the Municipal Tourism Office, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the office of Vice Mayor Maria Liza Evangelista.

“This initiative is Sibagat’s solution to protect the Pinandagatan Falls and conserve its natural waters from environmental hazards such as the current struggle in global warming and climate change,” the LGU Sibagat said.

It said the activity will also serve as “a springboard to a massive campaign of sustainable development, particularly in the tourism sector.” (PNA)
