DAVAO CITY – The Social Security System (SSS) in Davao is running after 16 delinquent establishments in the city with multi-million worth of unpaid contributions.

In an interview Monday, SSS-Davao branch account officer Greta Fe Quayle said the agency will impose the necessary charges against the 16 establishments to implement impartiality among paying and responsible employers.

"These are the most delinquent. Some with PHP2.4 million (M), PHP9M unpaid contributions," Quayle said, without naming the establishments to avoid shaming them in public.

"We aim to only implement our policy. We are subject to ridicule when we implement higher contributions to the public, so we need to be stringent with those that are evading their contributions," she said.

In a recently conducted race after contribution evaders (RACE) activity, Quayle said the local SSS branch issued show-cause orders to five private establishments to remind them of them to remit their employees' contributions to the agency.

"The five have already complied because we issued a notice that if their unpaid contributions are not settled within 15 days, they will face charges," Quayle said.

SSS said erring establishments can settle their obligations to the agency by availing of the Pandemic Relief and Reconstructing Program-Enhanced Installment Payment Program (PRRP) 3.

The PRRP 3 allows qualified employers to settle their past-due SS and Employees’ Compensation contributions in installments with payment terms ranging from nine to 60 months, depending on the total amount of delinquency.

Meanwhile, Quayle urged the SSS-Davao clients to file applications online "for convenient, swift, and affordable transactions." (PNA)
