LEGAZPI CITY – Three notorious drug pushers were arrested during buy-bust operations in Camarines Sur on Tuesday.

In an interview on Wednesday, Maj. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO-5) spokesperson, identified the suspects as Erwin Riason, 43, and Renato Bermundo, 50, both of Magarao, Camarines Sur.

She said combined elements of the Magarao Police Station and Philippine National Police Maritime Law Enforcement Team (MARLET) Calabanga nabbed the two drug pushers at around 7:30 p.m. at Zone 1, Barangay Santo Tomas of the said town.

Calubaquib attributed the success of the operation to the intelligence buildup conducted by the operatives and the help of informants in the community.

“The suspects were monitored many times selling shabu that led to their arrest by the police who acted as poseur buy,” she said.

Seized from possession of the suspects was one piece of a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.

Meanwhile, in Bombon town, a 19-year-old suspect identified as Angelo Oas was also arrested in a buy-bust by Bombon Police Station and Magarao Police Station in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Bicol (PDEA-5).

Confiscated from him were two pieces of a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and two pieces of tea bag suspected to be containing marijuana.

The suspects face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Calubaquib said the Bicol police is working non-stop to deter the proliferation of drugs in the region.

"We shall continue our strong partnership with our line agencies of the government in order to help strategize plans to be enforced by the unit," she added. (PNA)
