CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Authorities have arrested the leader of a notorious criminal group during a manhunt operation in Concepcion, Tarlac on Wednesday.

In his report on Thursday, Lt. Col. Reynold B. Macabitas, acting chief of police of Concepcion, said the operating troops of Concepcion Municipal Police, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3), and other law enforcement units, arrested Rollie Tayag, 44, of Barangay Sta. Monica, Concepcion town.

Tayag, the leader of the Tayag Criminal Gang, is listed in the Top 10 priority high-value individuals of PRO-3. His group is involved in illegal drugs and other lawless activities.

The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ronald Leo T. Haban of the Regional Trial Court Branch 66 in Capas, Tarlac for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of the Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act), with no bail recommended.

He is now under the custody of Concepcion Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay, regional director of PRO-3, said the successful arrest of Tayag was the result of extensive manhunt and surveillance operations being initiated by combined units to bring fugitives to the fold of justice and answer for the crimes that were committed. (PNA)
