MANILA – The Epifanio de los Santos (Edsa)- Kamuning flyover in Quezon City will be reopened to motorists on Saturday afternoon, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Friday.

DPWH Quezon City 2nd District Engineer Eduardo Santos said all three lanes of the southbound direction of the flyover will be passable to vehicles starting at 5 p.m.

The structure will be reopened within one month timetable as major repair works have been completed.

The DPWH started to work on the 527.15-meter stretch of the other portion of the flyover last month.

“We are happy to report that we were able to deliver on the given 30-day timetable despite the intermittent rain showers experienced in the past weeks,” Santos said in a statement.

On June 25, southbound lanes of the infrastructure were closed to give way for immediate repairs after large cracks and potholes were observed.

Following the sudden closure of the Kamuning Flyover, DPWH-National Capital Regional Director Nomer Abel Canlas ordered a thorough assessment on major bridges and flyovers around Metro Manila, especially aging structures.

The Kamuning Flyover was built in 1992. (PNA)
