MANILA – Pampanga (2nd District) Rep. Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo will not be able to attend President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday after she tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Erwin Krishna Santos, Arroyo's chief of staff, confirmed in a statement on Sunday that the former President was diagnosed positive in an antigen test on July 15 and has underwent self-quarantine.

However, the reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction test on Friday showed Arroyo was still positive for Covid-19.

“Therefore, she will not attend the Sona,” Santos said.

Santos said Arroyo has been "religiously taking the prescribed medicines and supplements required of a Covid-19 patient." (PNA)
