DAVAO CITY—The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) said Tuesday it has completed an assessment of agency-operated storage facilities for relief goods in some local government units (LGU) in Region 11.

In a statement, DSWD-11 said each of the assessed LGU will receive at least 2,000 family food packs, 100 non-food items—kitchen, family, sleeping, and hygienic kits—10 family tents, and 10 modular tents.

Currently, its Disaster Response Management Division has assessed Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte provinces, while assessment is ongoing for Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental.

“The office will also conduct a virtual discussion on the content of the Relief Prepositioning Agreement to be signed between DSWD-11 and the LGUs,” DSWD-11 said.

It said prepositioning priority was given to hazard-prone, geographically-isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) to ensure timely and efficient delivery of relief items to disaster-affected families and communities.

“The local prepositioning of relief items have been ordered by DSWD Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo,” DSWD-11 said. “We encourage all LGUs to prioritize utilizing their stockpiles.” (PNA)
