149 new Covid-19 infections logged in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – At least 149 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections were recorded in the Caraga Region from July 24 to July 30, the Department of Health in the region (DOH-13) said in a report Tuesday.

The new infections brought the remaining active Covid-19 cases in the region to 205, with 59,375 total number of cumulative cases.

DOH-13 data showed that the new cases were recorded in Agusan del Norte with 13, Agusan del Sur, 37; Surigao del Norte, 13; Surigao del Sur,18; and Dinagat Islands with a single case.

A total of 32 new cases were also logged last week in Butuan City, 17 in Bayugan City, 12 in Surigao City, and two cases each in the cities of Cabadbaran, Bislig, and Tandag.

“A total of 56 recoveries were also recorded last week, bringing the total cumulative number of recoveries in the region to 56,946,” DOH-13 said.

Six new Covid-19-related deaths were also recorded last week bringing the total number of deaths in the region to 2,224.

With the rise of Covid-19 infections, DOH-13 reiterated its call for residents to follow the minimum health protocols.

The agency also urged Caraganons to have themselves vaccinated against Covid-19 and for the fully vaccinated individuals to avail of the free booster shots.

As of July 24, a total of 1,676,030 individuals in the region are fully vaccinated. Of the number, 236,632 have availed themselves of the free booster shots of the vaccines.

On the same date, a total of 3,513,024 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the region. (PNA)
