Bacolod anti-drug teams net P8.5-M shabu in July

BACOLOD CITY – Anti-drug units of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized PHP8.517 million worth of inferred shabu during various operations here in July.

Data released on Tuesday showed that from July 1 to 31, authorities recovered 1,252.604 grams of illegal drugs with a standard drug price of PHP6,800 per gram.

Col. Joseph Martir, police city director, said the focused police operations, including against illegal drugs, are their top priority.

Last month, 52 drug personalities were arrested during 45 police operations. Among those nabbed were 37 drug pushers and 15 drug users.

Records also showed that 67 cases were filed in court against various suspects for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Among those arrested were three members of the Young family, who yielded PHP544,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.

They were identified as Michael Young, 23; his father Harold, 52; and his mother Raquel, 50.

In June, drug enforcement teams recovered PHP10.874 million worth of illegal drugs from 50 individuals, including 29 pushers and 21 users, during 35 police operations. (PNA)
