MANILA – Fifteen international flights were affected by the extended closure of a runway at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday.

Runway 06/24 is closed regularly from 1:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. for repair and maintenance.

However, this was extended to 6:20 a.m. due to the required curing time of the asphalt overlay.

One flight, Philippine Airlines (PR) 103 from Los Angeles, was delayed and diverted to Clark.

Spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said it was supposed to arrive in Manila at 4:30 a.m.

The plane arrived in Clark at 4:50 a.m.

The other delayed flights were PR 117 from Vancouver; TR 396 and PR 510 from Singapore; JL 077 and PR 596 from Haneda; PR 105 from San Francisco; and PR 522 from Phnom Penh.

Also delayed were flights PR 741 from Bangkok; PR 536 from Jakarta; EK 336 from Dubai; and 5J 572, 5J 804, and SQ 918, all from Singapore.

Flight PR 300 to Hong Kong was delayed as well.
