CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 3 (Central Luzon) has begun its intensified crackdown on “colorum” or illegal public utility vehicles (PUVs) plying various routes in the region.
LTFRB-3 Director Nasrudin Talipasan said Friday that in July, six "colorum" vehicles were apprehended in Mabalacat City, this province, issued an Inspection Report Summons (IRS) for operating without proper authority from LTFRB, and impounded.
Talipasan added that 19 other vehicles were apprehended for various violations, among them overcharging, cutting trips, not following their route, and improper uniform.
He said the campaign would continue so long as "colorum" vehicles continue to exist.
“Hangad ng ahensiya na itaguyod at protektahan ang karapatan ng mga law-abiding operators at ang mga mananakay tungo sa isang malinis at malusog na kumpetisyon sa larangan ng pampublikong transportasyon at para sa ligtas, maginhawa, accessible, at abot-kayang public transport services sa ikauunlad ng bayan (The agency seeks to promote and protect the rights of law-abiding operators and riders to clean and healthy competition in the field of public transport and for safe, convenient, accessible, and affordable public transport services for progress),” he said in a social media post.
He also called on transport operators to secure franchises to avoid any inconvenience. (PNA)
