MANILA – A portion of Ninoy Aquino Avenue near Imelda Bridge in Parañaque City will be temporarily closed from 6 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday to make way for the construction of the Ninoy Aquino Station of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension Project.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) advised motorists to take alternative routes.

The DOtr said vehicles headed north may take a right turn to Old Sucat Road (in front of SM Sucat) to C5 Extension Road, Multinational Ninoy Aquino Avenue (near Duty-Free), and turn left to take Kabihasnan or Victor Medina Street and to Quirino Avenue or Cavitex Coastal Road.

Motorists headed south may turn left to Multinational C5 Extension Road, AMVEL Ninoy Aquino Avenue (near Airforce One/PCP Station 3) or left to Multinational C5 Extension Road, Old Sucat Road exit (near headquarters or Barangay San Dionisio Hall) and take a U-turn at Palanyag.

They may also take Quirino Avenue, Kabihasnan, and then to Ninoy Aquino Avenue.

In July, DOTr Undersecretary for Railways Cesar Chavez said the LRT-1 Extension project, which will extend the LRT-1 southward from Baclaran to Bacoor, Cavite, was 69 percent complete.

He noted that 122 trains and about 24 rolling stock for the project are ready, with station developments already in place except in Las Piñas and Bacoor. (PNA)
