SAMAL, Bataan – Parents of children in a public elementary school here on Friday started securing requirements to avail of the educational assistance granted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Early Friday morning, parents trooped to the Samal South Elementary School in Barangay Sta. Lucia here to request for a certificate of enrollment/registration and if available, a school ID, two of the documents to be presented.
One of the parents, April Maninang, said she was requesting from the school the certificates of enrollment of two of her four children for educational assistance.
“Napakalaking bagay nito para sa amin. Unang-una sa mga pangangailangan na gamit ng bata at sa pang-araw araw nila. Malaking bagay din talaga para sa budget namin ng mga anak ko (This is a big help for us. First, for the school supplies of my children and for their daily expenses. It is indeed a big matter for the budget of my children),” the mother said in an interview.
Other documents required to be included in DSWD’s Educational Assistance for Student-In-Crisis are a certificate of indigency based on some listed categories and a valid government ID of the claimant.
In Bataan, the documents will be submitted to the DSWD extension office in Barangay Palihan in Hermosa where the payout will be done every Saturday starting on August 20, 2022.
The schedule of payouts is on August 20 and 27, September 3, 10, 17, and 24.
The educational assistance is PHP1,000 for elementary, PHP2,000 for high school, PHP3,000 for senior high school, and PHP4,000 for vocational/college.
The Samal South Elementary School, meanwhile, conducted free haircut for selected school children in preparation for the opening of classes on Monday.
The undertaking named “Libreng Gupit para sa Bulilit ng Samal South Elementary School” was held at the school covered court in Barangay Sta. Lucia.
Meanwhile, police personnel in the province are visible in projects under the "Brigada Eskwela" school preparation program.
Two of the recent programs implemented by the Samal Municipal Police Station headed by its police chief Major Jimmy Albert Decin are "Brigada Pagbasa" and the repainting of a public elementary school.
Personnel of the station conducted Thursday visitation and book reading for the young learners of Gugo Elementary School, in partnership with school principal Myrah Esconde in connection with Brigada Eskwela/Brigada Pagbasa.
“This aims to encourage children and their parents to be prepared for the resumption of face-to-face classes this coming school year,” Decin said. (PNA)
