DUMAGUETE CITY – Personnel of various government agencies in Negros Oriental on Tuesday planted 2,000 tree seedlings of different varieties in support of the priorities of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on environment and natural resources protection.

Dubbed the National Simultaneous Bamboo and Tree Planting Activity, the seedlings were planted in Barangay Enrique Villanueva in the municipality of Sibulan.

More or less 200 personnel from various national agencies and local government units (LGUs), led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, participated in the activity, a report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) said.

The participants were from the Sibulan LGU, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Information Agency, among others.

DILG-Negros Oriental provincial director Farah Gentuya told the Philippine News Agency that the tree planting kick-off will encourage public involvement and the continuous planting of trees across vulnerable communities.

The activity bannered the theme “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan”. (PNA)
