More than 13K students in Cebu, NegOr to get payouts this weekend

DUMAGUETE CITY – A total of 13,065 students in Negros Oriental and Cebu provinces will receive their education assistance payouts from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 7 (DSWD-7) on Saturday.

Of the number, 12,469 learners are from Cebu province and 596 from Negros Oriental, said DSWD-7 public information officer Leah Tagalo Quintana on Friday.

Quintana told the Philippine News Agency that these students in crisis from elementary, high school, and college, had previously registered online for the government payouts.

Meanwhile, the DSWD-7 regional office reported that in the past four Saturdays of payouts, the number of students who received government education assistance totaled 20,453.

These were distributed on Aug. 20 and 27, and Sept. 3 and 10, in the provinces of Cebu (13,456 beneficiaries); Negros Oriental (4,507); Bohol (2,010); and Siquijor, 480.

So far, the education assistance handed over by DSWD-7 to the beneficiaries in Central Visayas has totaled PHP55.337 million. (PNA)
