MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday exhorted the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to continue ensuring a qualified and competent work force in public service.
In a video message during the CSC’s 122nd anniversary, Marcos cited the CSC’s important role as the central personnel agency of government.
“Tunay na mahalaga ang inyong ginagampanan sa pamahalaan sapagkat tinitiyak ninyo karapat-dapat ang galing ng mga lider at kawani na magsisilbi sa gobyerno (Your role in the government is very important because you ensure that the leaders and personnel who will serve the government are qualified),” he said.
Marcos said he was “honored” to join the celebration, especially now that there is a stronger pitch for unity as a driving force for the nation’s socio-economic development.
He urged the CSC to keep doing its best in the performance of its mandate.
“Patuloy sana ninyo paigtingin at pagbutihin ang inyong pangangasiwa sa pangkalahatang prosesong nagsasaayos at nagpapatibay ng antas ng serbisyo sa pamahalaan at pampublikong mga tanggapan sa ating bansa. Hangad ko ang isang maligayang pagdiriwang para sa inyong ika-isang daan at dalawampu’t dalawang anibersaryo (May you continue to intensify and improve your supervision of the entire process that maintains and reinforces an efficient level of service in government and public offices in our country. I wish you a happy celebration for your 122nd anniversary),” added the President, who is currently in New York for the United Nations General Assembly which he will address on Tuesday.
The CSC anniversary celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, series of 1997, declaring the month of September as Civil Service Month.
This year’s thematic focus is on resilience, which is part of building smart organizations and a future-ready civil service.
As part of its celebration, the CSC and online job search portal, JobStreet, are spearheading the Government Online Career Fair from September 19 to 23.
Almost 3,500 posts in 131 government agencies are being offered, including guidance counselors, administrative aides and officers, revenue officers, engineers, midwives, planning officers, project development officers, nurses, instructors, accountants/auditors, executive assistants, and information technology officers.

Currently headed by Chairperson Karlo Nograles, the CSC was formally established under Public Law No. 5 (An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of Our Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Island) in 1900 by the Second Philippine Commission. (PNA)
