ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city government has offered a PHP2 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of those behind the recent killing of a retired police officer -turned-businessman in this city.

Mayor John Dalipe made the offer Monday as he ordered the local police to conduct a deeper probe on the Oct. 13 killing of Alvin Perez, 49.

Perez, a construction firm owner, was driving his sports utility vehicle with two bodyguards on the way home when repeatedly shot by one of two men on a motorcycle in Barangay Divisoria.

Perez died of multiple gunshot wounds while one of his two bodyguards, Danny Boy Bellesa, 30, was wounded.

Perez's other bodyguard, Regie Bartolome, 34, was unscathed during the incident.

“I have ordered the security sector to strengthen investigation on the matter. Rest assured that our security forces are on top of the situation, which is why I am offering a reward of PHP2 million for the pursuit of the persons responsible for the ambush,” Dalipe said.

The reward money will come from the city’s peace and order fund.

The local police earlier created a special investigation task group to handle the case. (PNA)
