Neneng-affected families near 30K: NDRRMC

MANILA – The number of families affected by Typhoon Neneng has reached 29,544 or 103,662 persons, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its update Tuesday.

These affected families are residing in 331 barangays in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

As of this posting, 71 evacuation centers are sheltering 601 families or 1,865 individuals while the remainder either have returned home or are seeking shelter with relatives or friends.

Undergoing validation are reports of two persons injured in Cagayan Valley. There are still no reports of fatalities or missing individuals as of this time.

Houses damaged by Neneng are placed at 38 in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and CAR.

The figure included 36 partially damaged houses and two totally damaged houses.

Agriculture damage was estimated at PHP7.6 million, involving 503.57 hectares of crop lands classified as partially damaged in Ilocos Region.

Meanwhile, infrastructure damage has reached PHP81.5 million in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley and CAR. (PNA)
