TACLOBAN CITY – Police and anti-narcotic agents confiscated on Sunday some PHP2.4 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust involving a key drug personality here.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) regional office said Monday police operatives and agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized at least 370 grams of shabu in the city’s Marasbaras district.

Police identified the suspect as Francisco Yu, 44, driver, of Sampaguita district. He has been identified as one of the high-value targets in the region.

PNP Eastern Visayas regional director Brig. Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said Yu was caught selling 15 plastic sachets of suspected shabu to a police officer who acted as a poseur-buyer during the operation.

“This is another laudable joint effort of our operatives on the ground with the PDEA. We will continue our operations until the very end,” Marbil said.

Seized from the suspect were several plastic sachets and paper wrappers containing shabu, a PHP500 marked money, 199 PHP1,000 fake bills, PHP2,699 cash in different denominations, lighters, an improvised water pipe, and a motorcycle.

The suspect is now under the custody of the PNP Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit while the confiscated drug items were subjected to a laboratory examination.

Yu will be charged with the violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
